Swatch: Sinful Colors in Aroise

So it was suppose to rain today and it was super sunny and warm. So to protest the sun (I'm totally a winter person) I wanted stormy grey nails. This is a great polish. It is a two coater (awesome for a three coater type girl) and love the stormy color. Much better than the super sunny weather lol.

Swatch: Sinful Colors in Mint Apple

This product was purchased with my own funds

In an attempt to be springy I went for this awesome mint green today.  Only downside is now I REALLY want a shamrock shake! mmmm mint.  Minty milkshake...mmmmmmmm. want. now...

Moving on!

Please forgive the icky cuticles and bubbles, I really do need to start doing my nails earlier in the evening when I have a better chance of staying awake long enough to do a good job! This color is awesome.  It is a mint green creme with shimmer.  As with many of Sinful's shimmery cremes, this dries to an almost suede finish.  I prefer a shiny nail, so after this pic I topped it with a top coat.

And I still really want that shake...

Manicure Monday

With all the news of Google Reader going away, wanted to let you all know that I am easily followed on Bloglovin. Follow my blog with Bloglovin. I really like Bloglovin, and really like their app. Makes catching up on blogs on the go super easy

I wasn't quiet ready to stop the St. Patties Day manis, so here is yet another green mani! When I used the mini Sally Girl nail polish last week, I noticed it was a jelly. WOOHOO! We all know that this means...jelly sandwich time!I did two layers of green, then two layers of Green Ocean, followed by another layer of green.  I really like this! The shine from Green Ocean is very subtle until seen in sunlight then it is amazing. I really need more jellys in my life! lol

NOTD: Green Ocean!

So I went to 4 Walgreens yesterday. I think we all know why. (all on the same major road...all on the same side of the street. The random things I discover while searching for polish!) I was getting really bummed and at the last one on my way home...I saw it. Two bottles of Green Ocean! (I may have done a happy dance in the aisle.  I may have also looked kinda crazed as I rushed up to the display and grabbed em)

The pretties in my hands!

So of course I had to do my nails last night. I also picked up Sinful Colors Calypso which is a gorg deep dark teal. PERFECT as undies for Green Ocean!

Only bad part about this polish is....it is impossible to take good pictures of! This is the best I could come up with at home. Which is pitiful as it is MUCH more shimmery in real life and I keep looking at my nails. (So much so the boyfriend may be questioning my sanity....)

Tried again at work with my lovely lack of lighting at my desk and oddly you can see more! Oh well, lets not question logic when we can look at pretty nail polish.

So yes, Green Ocean does exist. I was starting to wonder. These two bottles took me two years to find! So don't give up hope!

Swatch: Sally Hansen Fire Opal Nail Glaze in Goldspun Opal

Here is an oldie from my stash. Sally Hansen came out with these sheer duochrome topcoats years ago. This one is a very sheer orange base with multichrome shimmer. Depending on the light light you get pink, purple, or green shimmer. I did these swatches over wet n wild fastdry in Ebony Hates Chris.

Swatch: wet n wild fastdry in Gray's Anatomy

Today is an awesome duo chrome. As with most duo chrome polishes, it is rather thin. This would be fun to try over black and white. It's a gray polish with flashes of purple and sometimes green. These swatches are with three coats and you can see how sheer the polish is.

Manicure Monday

Today is a cling wrap mani. Still totally in love with this technique. Went with a base of wet n wild megalast in Venomous Vixen then did the top later in wet n wild wild shine in Metallica. I love how this looks with metallics. It looks like molten metal to me. It's also a bit subtle which is good since I'm starting a new job and not sure how well say, bright orange nails would go go over lol. Wish me luck!

Swatch: wet n wild fastdry in Buffy the Violet Slayer

This is the first time I have had to change the color of a photo to show an accurate swatch. This polish just would NOT photograph purple.  It kept coming out this nice shade of blue. I tried under different lights, sunlight and..still blue.  So I finally gave up and edited the photo.  The picture now shows the awesome bright purple color this polish is.

Swatch: wet n wild fastdry in Teal or No Teal

Another bright polish! This is a somewhat sheer shimmery teal blue.  For once I like the sheerness, it makes the layers of shimmer really shine and gives the polish great depth.

Manicure Monday

So I totally hated this mani, but still decided so show you my fail >__< I wanted to make a milky glitter sandwich and my sheer creme was just too creamy. I did a base of NYC Long Wearing in French White Tip then did a layer of Spoiled in Trust Fund Baby for the glitter.  I topped it off with another layer of white.  I was hoping since the white was somewhat sheer that this would work.  And it totally didn't.  But hey, I tried!

Swatch: Spoiled in Show Me the Money

To keep with the theme of super bright nails in freezing weather (ok freezing for California. aka freezing for wimps) This is a super bright shimmery blue.  I really love this color! Only problem is it is a bit sheer, I had to use 4 coats for these, but they dried really fast so it wasn't that big of a deal.

On a side note, this cold weather is killing my nails! *sniff* I think I will be stuck with nubbins for a while. So sad! At least nubbins look good in bright colors ^__^

Swatch: Spoiled in Club Rat

Today is Spoiled in Club Rat. This is a bright pink jelly with micro flakie glitter.  This is with three coats, and you still see the nail line. I also had trouble getting consistent coverage at the tips, they still look white in spots.  This polish might look better layered over a creme.  I'm going to have to play with this one for some jelly sandwich time!

Manicure Monday

More dots! The purple is Sinful Colors in Fig and the silver is wet n wild wild shine in Metallica.

Swatch: China Glaze Magnetix in Instant Chemistry

So I'm a tad late jumping on the magnetic polish wagon.  But my awesome friend got me this China Glaze polish and its like getting a new toy! I have used magnetic polish before, years and years ago when Lancome released one.  So I know it takes a bit of practice to get it right. I went with the chevron pattern first (the China Glaze magnet has a chevron, starburst, and stripe pattern)

I did one fairly thick coat of polish, then used the magnet.  As each nail went I got a bit better.  The trick is to hold the magnet as close to the polish as possible and to not move it for at least 15 seconds. I love how this polish is a one coater with fast dry time.  This will be added to my list of quick dry polishes for last minute manis, and its super fun to boot! Now that I have played with this, I want more colors! lol better late than never?

Left hand, you can tell I started with my pinky and got better as I moved toward my thumb lol

By time I got to my last nail, look! Perfect chevron!

Manicure Monday

So one of my friends gave me the best give ever! A set of 5 double ended dotting tools! *squee* Soooo this means lots and lots of dot manis while I play with my new toy. So of course I had to do something with different size dots!

I started out with a base of three layers of wet n wild megalast in Venomous Vixen.  I then did the biggest dots in NYC Long Wearing in Black Lace Creme.  Then the medium dots in wet n wild Wild Shine in Metallica.  The tiny dots were NYC Long Wearing in French White Tip.

I LOVE this mani! It is fun and easy.  My right hand even looks pretty good.  Can't wait to play with more dots.

Here is a close up of my thumb

NOTD: Sally Hansen Complete Salon in Eel Skin with Nails Inc. in Hackney

Wanted something more than just a plain swatch so I decided to do a crackle top coat for some interest.  I'm really in love with the Nails Inc. Special Effects in Hackney.  It is a great silver crackle and a subtle shimmer to polish without screaming "crackle!" I started with three coats of Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in Eel Skin and topped with one coat of Hackney.

Here it is without a top coat.  You can really see the texture of the crackle and it almost has a matte quality to it.

Here it is with topcoat.  I love how this is a more subtle crackle and makes the grey base have a great interesting shimmer to it.

Manicure Monday #2!

Here is a mani I love! I cannot get over how much I love these two polishes together.  I have already made nail polish jewelry with this combo I love it so much. I just haven't worn it on my fingers yet. I started with three coats of Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in Grey Area, which is still one of my favorite polishes EVER.  I then topped it off with one coat of wet n wild Wild Shine in Sparkled.  The glitter payoff in this polish is awesome.  This is just one thin coat and my whole nail sparkles!

The only downside is as with most glitters, it just does not photograph well!

Here is a pic in natural light, you can't really see the glitter well in this one.

Here is one under the light in my living room.  you can see the glitter better in this one.  Love!

Manicure Monday

Here is my first mani of the day.  Honestly, didn't like it one bit so my second mani of the day is soon to follow.  I wanted to have something sparkle for the new year, so I wanted to top off with NYX Hieroglyphics.  I didn't want to do basic black so I did two coats of wet n wild megalast in Disturbia.  I then did one coat of Hieroglyphics and was not impressed.  The clear base was super thick and did not deliver much glitter.  I was expecting a much more dense glitter.  What bummed me the most is this polish just would not dry.  Three hours later and it was still easy to dent, and even the next morning wasn't has hard as it should be.  Sooo off it went! I'm much happier with my second mani of the day, post coming soon!

Swatch: Sally Hanson Complete Salon Manicure in Gilded Lily

When I first saw the bottle shots of the Sally Hansen and Prabal Gurung polishes I was totally in love with Gilded Lily.  When I saw swatches of it though...I was not impressed and decided to skip it.  Few months later it was on clearance at Target and for a little over $3 I figured I could pick up another gold polish.  Still wasn't in love with it and put off swatching it for a few months.

Then I finally decided to swatch it and OH MY I LOVE IT!!! This polish is not done any justice by any swatches I have found online.  It is a clear base packed with tiny gold flecks.  It makes me feel like I have covered my nails in gold foil.  It has amazing shine without the dreaded brush strokes if this was a gold frost.

This swatch was with four coats.  I could have done less if I had used a creme base, but the dry time was so fast it didn't bother me to do an extra coat.  It also has a very smooth finish compared to other glitters.  So glad I finally picked this one up!
