Manicure Monday

Today is a crackle mani day. I know I know, crackle. But I still love it when I'm in the right mood! I started out with a base of wet n wild megalast in I Need a Refresh-Mint (which is an awesome color on its own) and topped it with LaRosa white crackle.

For some reason this makes me think of the Hamptons. Can't you just imagine some awesome wood lounge chair on a deck overlooking the ocean.  And this chair is sat in by the fabulously rich.  Well that is the mental image I get LOL

Manicure Monday

Today I did some subtle dots. I started with a base of wet n wild megalast in Disturbia. I then did dots in wet n wild megalast in Venomous Vixen. This look was hard to photograph. It is very subtle. You don't really notice the dots, but see more of a shift in color.

Manicure Monday

Today I tried out a new technique. It's a variation of a tape mani, but instead of tape I used those adhesive hole reinforcers you find in the office supply store.

I did a coat of wet n wild shine in Metallica. I waited about an hour to make sure it was totally dry then used the hole reinforcer to make a half moon at the base of my nail. I then did a thick coat of wet n wild fastdry in Ebony Hates Chris.

Overall I like this! It didn't come out half bad for a first attempt and will be adding this to my list of go to manis.

Manicure Monday

Dots! We all know how much I love my dotting tools. I did a base in Sinful Colors in Leap Flog. This is still one of my favorite colors ever. I love how it looks with silver so I added to rows of different sized dots in wet n wild wild shine in Metallica.

Manicure Monday

So this was the mani I rocked for the Super Bowl. *SIGH* MAJOR SIGH. I'm a sad little niners fan!! At least we came to life in the second half (look at me sounding like a sports fan. For the record I watched one game this year...the Super Bowl lol)

I was in a rush and had to cook tons for our party, so a simple cling wrap mani was the result. I did the base in Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in Cherry Red and did the top layer in Sally Hansen Salon Nail Lacquer in Gilty Pleasure.

Wasn't able to get the best pics, and the mani didn't last long after doing dishes for hours lol.

Manicure Monday

So one of my friends gave me the best give ever! A set of 5 double ended dotting tools! *squee* Soooo this means lots and lots of dot manis while I play with my new toy. So of course I had to do something with different size dots!

I started out with a base of three layers of wet n wild megalast in Venomous Vixen.  I then did the biggest dots in NYC Long Wearing in Black Lace Creme.  Then the medium dots in wet n wild Wild Shine in Metallica.  The tiny dots were NYC Long Wearing in French White Tip.

I LOVE this mani! It is fun and easy.  My right hand even looks pretty good.  Can't wait to play with more dots.

Here is a close up of my thumb

Manicure Monday

Here is the perfect Christmas Eve mani! Christmas trees! I love my dotting tool, its the only way I have any chance of doing nail art on my right hand that looks semi passable. Being ambidextrous would have been great for doing my nails!

I did two coats of Sally Hansen Extreme Wear in Cherry Red, then the green dots in Julep Leah, and the gold in Sally Hansen Salon in Gilty Pleasure. Super fun and easy.

Now to relax my stomach as I have three giant meals coming my way in the next 32 hours. *rolls away*

Manicure Monday

Today is dots! This really reminds me of Minnie Mouse =) Oh how I love my dotting tool.  Well...at least on my left hand lol.  Don't expect to see any pics of my right hand any time soon.  I did a base with three coats of Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in Cherry Red and the dots in Xtreme Wear in White On.  Back to Cherry Red, the dry time on this polish was amazing.  It dried like a fast dry polish, oh how I love it.

Manicure Monday

This week is two of my fave things, tape mani and dots! I started with a base of wet n wild megalast in Haze of Love.  I got this polish as part of the CVS BOGO sale, and I wasn't in love with it, but I didn't wanna walk out without a free polish, so I snagged it.  Oh my, am I glad I did!! I LOVE it.  In the bottle I expected it to be a bit more dusty in color.  On the nail it is this amazing deep color, I think it is like the ox blood color that seems to be all the rage this fall.  I then did the tips and dots in wet n wild black creme.

Wimpy Girl "Zombie" Nails

So tomorrow is Halloween and my team at work decided the team costumes would be zombies.  This is what happens when the team wimp is out sick for one day. lol. Totally was not at that meeting. And when I say wimp I mean WIMP.  There is only one haunted house that hasn't scared me half to death...the Haunted Mansion...at Disneyland.  You know, the haunted house geared toward 5 year olds.  Yup.  That's how brave I am.

So, when the uber wimp does "zombie" nails that means messy and shades of grey.  I have glanced at some epic gruesome zombie manis online.  I say glanced because...well I'm too wimpy to really look at them...

I did a base coat in Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in Eel Skin then did a layer of Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in Grey Area and used plastic wrap to pull up some of the wet polish.  The result was messy and grey and I'm quite happy with it.

So now the pics of my wimpy girly girl zombie mani

Manicure Monday

I'm kinda over crackle, but still love the effect and love how it is a quick and easy way to add interest to a mani.  Today I did a base in wet n wild megalast in Venomous Vixen.  I then masked off the outside corner of each nail and did an accent in black crackle.  Usually I like a top coat on my crackle, but I really liked the contrast of the matte crackle over the shimmer of the base.

I also have a feeling this mani won't make it till morning as it is late and I am tired...and its not quite all the way dried.  Fingers crossed!

Manicure Monday

Found a pic on Pinterest, and luckily the pic was watermarked so I can give credit to Enamel Girl.  I am not sure which post exactly though, but I am really glad I can give credit where it is due.  I interpreted this look as making the visible nail line intentionally obvious with a jelly polish.  I started with white french tips then did three layers of wet n wild Hannah Pinktana.  Oh how I love this polish. Micro halo in light pink jelly base. *happy sigh* Overall this is a fun look and makes me want to play with layering jellies over cremes more.

Manicure Monday

Sorry a little late! Yesterday was just one of those days. This week I did a bright french tip in Sinful Colors Dream On then added some dots with my dotting tool. I really love a bright tip over a nude nail, makes the color pop even more for me.

These pics are with top coat. This mani needs a top coat to really make it look its best

Manicure Monday

This week I went a bit dot happy with my dotting tool.  I like the idea, but not the end result.  I did a base of Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in White On, and dots in: wet n wild fast dry in Gray's Anatomy, wet n wild Wild Shine in Metallica, Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in Gunmetal, and Sinful Colors in Black on Black.

All was going well until top coat time.  I used Orly Glosser and it did not work with me! It pulled up the white base, even though it had dried more than an hour.  It also picked up some of the darker dots and made it streaky.

Manicure Monday

Today is another tape manicure! Wanted to play with metallics and this brought out two of my favorite polishes.  These were some of the first polishes I bought last year when I started doing my nails again, and a still adore them!

Did my base in Sally Hansen Xtremewear in Time to Shine. This was two coats.

I then cut little squares of scotch tape and used them to make a chevron shape at the tips of my nails.  I then used Sally Hansen XtremeWear in Midnight Sky to to my tips.

Overall I like this one! I love these two polishes together.  Now I just need to work on getting the tape centered =P

Manicure Monday

So today I tried out marbling, something I haven't done since Jr. High!! Totally forgot about this method so decided to try it out in red, white, and blue in honor of the 4th of July coming up in a few days.

I used Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in White On as a base and Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in Cherry Red and Wet n Wild fast dry in Saved by the Blue for swirling. (like my table? It's fairly epic.  Table I have used for crafts since I was a kid!)

So I start with a thick layer of the base then drop on one of each color.  I then used a toothpick to swirl the colors around
Tada! Kinda marbled!

Not bad for a first try in years (many...many...years...) Might try this again this week for a wedding I'm going to.  We will see!
