Swatch: Wet n Wild Teal of Fortune

Today I bring you another wet n wild fast dry polish, Teal of Fortune. Again, this is the only fast dry line I actually like.  Took three coats and was not quite opaque.  This is another I need to try over black!

Review: Jergens natural GLOW and Protect

When I got a sample of this lotion I was excited.  I am...pale. Like glow in the dark pale. So pale my mom says if we are ever in a sinking ship at night...my legs would save us because they would glow in the dark pale.
Before: So trying to get pictures of my paleness wasn't the easiest thing to do. I compared with my arm since my arm sometimes see sunlight and actually has some color!!
After: This is after using the lotion for three days. The lighting is different, but you can see my leg is less pale.

First impression: Feels like your basic lotion.  What I like is there isn't a strong scent.  Even with SPF 20, I wasn't able to pick up a sun screen smell.  The lotion absorbs really well, which is good since the package warns to let the lotion dry before putting clothes on.

Overall: Is this a way to get an instant tan? No. Is is way to gradually built a subtle tan? Yes.  After three days my legs had a touch of color to them.  This worked great for me because I'm so pale that if I suddenly changed color that quickly it would be odd.  I didn't have any transfer to my clothes, but I did get a little color on my white towels after drying off in the shower.

Swatch: Sally Hansen Flirt and Essie Shine of the Times

Today I bring you one of my favorite Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear colors, Flirt!! I LOVE this deep wine color.  It has a very very subtle sparkle to it that you can only see in certain light.  What I don't love is the brush in this bottle. I picked this up when it had a random 75% off sticker at CVS.  Nothing else was on sale, no big clearance sales had happened recently, but hey! pretty color at 75% off? Why not? Ends up...was on clearance because the brush is defective and is angled. =( So, lesson learned! If you find a random bottle of polish on sale...when nothing else is on sale...check the brush!! lol

Then for some fun I decided to add a layer of Essie Shine of the Times. Oh how I adore this polish! Its my only flakie at the moment...I think I need more...many many more!!!! I love how it makes everything look like an opal.

With flash: (flash really killed the opal effect *sad face* )
Without flash: AHA! now you can see it!!
This polish changes from red based shimmer to green.  The green would not come out for me in pictures! You can kinda sorta see it in the blur of my pinky nail. Wearing over a red based polish is really making the red shimmer pop!

Manicure Monday

Today I tried to be fancy! First time trying a fun french tip using tape! Got the idea from Chloe's Nails who has some awesome tutorials!

Started with a base of Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in Grey Area.  This is a polish that took me a few months to finally buy.  For some reason I kept coming back to it and finally gave after a few months.  So glad I did! i love the purplish grey color and it covers like a dream.

Then I got creative! Did tips in Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in Lacey Lilac. Took me a while to get the hang of it, by time I finished my second had I think I got it! I did a quick dry top coat on the base color and let it dry for an hour just to make sure it was totally dry and wouldn't pull up with the tape.

Review: Bath & Body Works Fine Fragrance Mist

Another VoxBox review! Today is the GIANT bottle of Bath & Body Works Fine Fragrance Mist in Paris Amour.  I know this is the normal retail size, so really its not huge, but was not expecting a full size to review! *happy dance*
First impression: ACK vanilla. Usually not a fan of vanilla in fragrances.  But, just to make sure I wasn't imagining things I checked the Bath & Body Works website, here are the fragrance notes:
  • Top Notes: Sparkling Mandarin, Petite Strawberry, Cassis, Pink Champagne, Apple Blossom, Dewy Freesia
  • Mid Notes: Luscious Peach, Jasmine Petals, French Tulip, Water Lily, Frangipani
  • Dry Notes: French Vanilla, Coconut Milk, Amber Wood, Sandalwood, Creamy Musk
After wearing for a bit: The vanilla note fades after just a few minutes.  I am then left with this awesome sweet scent I love.  It lasts a few hours, but this is pretty good for a body mist.  I also like how it isn't a heavy scent so it is great for summer.

Overall: I am really happy I was sent this scent as it is something I never would have bought on my own.  I would have been scared away by the initial vanilla scent.  The only aspect of the this spray I haven't seen a huge difference is how it conditions and nourishes skin.  I only spray around my neck which is the least dry part of my body, so I haven't seen any difference.

Head over to www.bathandbodyworks.com so see all of the scents in this line.  There is also a huge sale going on right now!

Note: I received this product complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes.

Swatch: Revlon Scandalous

Today I bring you Revlon Scandalous. OH MY!!! LOVE this polish! Black and purple?? Black JELLY with purple GLITTER??? *happy sigh*

(please forgive my SUPER dry hands)

This took three coats to be opaque.  I could probably get away with two coats if I did a black creme base.  I love the mix of larger hex and fine glitter.  Oh ok, I just love glitter in general!! Another thing I like is that I get the sparkle, but it is still an easy to remove polish for glitter.

Swatch: Wet n Wild The Wonder Yellows

Today we are looking at another Wet n Wild fast dry polish, The Wonder Yellows

This one took 3 coats. It is pretty sheer and you can still see my nail lines.  As with most neons, this would really pop if I did it over a coat of white.  I'm usually not a huge fan of fast dry polishes as the brush gets a bit gummy (maybe because I move too slow? lol remember...not coordinated!) But Wet n Wild has a really good formula that I love.  I was able to do three coats and was set to go in 15 minutes.  Yay for waking up late and still being able to have a fun color on my nails!

Review: Sally Hansen Salon Effects

Today is another VoxBox review! Today I'm going to take a look at the Sally Hansen Salon Effects in Laced Up. First up, what comes in the box.  Everything you need is in the box which is great! You have the nail strips, a nail file, and a cuticle pusher.  I really like that, assuming you have clean nails, you can just grab the box and be set to go.

Without flash:
With flash:
First Impression: LOVE the fact there is zero dry time.  For me, the first nail was not the easiest thing to put on.  I will also admit I am far from...coordinated.  After about three nails I got the hang of it and start to finish both hands took about 15 minutes.  For me, the fit wasn't great.  I am cursed with very straight square shaped nail beds, and the nail strips were more curved.  Luckily it wasn't so much that there was a huge gap at the cuticle, but if you look closely you can see it.  The pattern was nice, but not my favorite for my skin tone, but that is really just personal preference.  I am very picky about nude shades of nail polish.

Wear: The package says it lasts up to 10 days.  I decided to not baby my nails to to treat them like I usually treat my nails...which is...terrible.  I'm the type of girl who never wears dish gloves when cleaning or doing the dishes so usually nail polish lasts a whole day before I get my first chip.  These lasted halfway to day three, not the 10 days promised, but MUCH longer than nail polish.  I had to remove them after day three because they started to come up around the cuticle...and they got stuck when I was washing my hair. THAT was not fun!

Overall: I would totally consider these for a special occasion.  The price ($9.99) is a little steep for everyday wear for me.  But so many of the designs are cute and would be a great quick way to add the final touch to a special outfit.  They are also on sale quite often, so it wouldn't be a bad idea to snag one you love and keep it on hand for a special day.  These would also be perfect for travel because you don't have to worry about spills or breakage.

Manicure Monday

This week I am revisiting Wet n Wild Blue Wants To Be A Millionaire. Yes, this is the same polish as last week and usually I don't repeat a polish this quickly, but I am sorta addicted to this polish!!

This time I layered it over one coat of Sinful Black on Black. I love how much this changed the color of the polish! It really made the holo glitter pop! It's like a totally different polish and I love it. Next week promise to have different polish!

Review: Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Body Wash

Today I have another review from my VoxBox! This is the only non full size item from the box. But, at 2 ounces, this is a pretty good sized sample.

Initial Thoughts: I love Aveeno so I was very excited for this.  I have only been disappointed by one Aveeno products in years (tinted moisturizer, but I blame my super oily skin for that one). I love how it had directions for shaving right on the bottle.  I have been using body wash as shaving cream for about a year now, so yay! I'm not the only one.

After a few days: I decided to test how moisturizing this body wash is by not using lotion.  I have to say I am very pleased with how my skin does not feel dry at all! Usually I have to use lotion every day or my skin gets really dry, itchy and/or ashy.  Even after one use, I wasn't missing the lotion at all.  This is also fantastic for shaving, it created a very nice rich lather which I love for shaving.  Shaving usually dries out my legs, but not at all with this body wash, no lotion needed to feel moisturized. I cannot see "visibly healthier skin" but, my skin feels very moisturized even without lotion.

Overall: This may be my new favorite body wash.  I love not having to use lotion every day! It creates a rich lather that is great for washing and shaving.

SoyJoy Blueberry Bar Review

Today I have another review from my VoxBox! Today we will take a look at the SoyJoy Blueberry bar.

This bar is all natural, gluten free, and has real fruit.  Needless to say, its healthy. And it tastes healthy.  This is not something you want to reach for when you are trying to kill a chocolate craving! But, if you want a healthy snack its not a bad option.

Appearance: Honestly, not the prettiest thing I have ever seen.
Texture: Nice variety.  Nice chunks of fruit and some crunch, but it is dry
Taste: First bite was not amazing, mainly because it was drier than I expected.  But it does not have that odd taste other energy bars.  Best part? It didn't remind me of cardboard!
Best part: For sure the blueberries.  I love blueberries and I liked how I could tell it was real fruit.  I was expecting a few specks of berry, not whole berries, so it was a nice surprise.

Overall, not sure if I would go out of my way to buy this again.  But it might not be a bad idea to have a few in my desk drawer at work for those days when I start dragging around 3pm.

Note: I received this product complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes.
